Common Thread
Common Thread - Saskatoon
While small (8 x 9 on 32 count linen  and 7 1/4 x 8 on 36 count), this beautiful design features more than 30 specialty stitches, including Hungarian, Rhodes, Scotch, Queen, Jacquard, 4-Sided, Mosaic, Satin and eyelets. On Saturday we will stitch the small band sampler in the upper left corner, comprised of 13 rows. This will give you many of the foundation stitches you'll need for the rest of the piece. On Sunday we'll work on the Whitework and Pulled sections.

Even if you are a relatively new stitcher, Jeannette will impart the knowledge of the stitches you need to complete this piece. You do need to be familiar with counting from a chart, since all of this is counted thread work.

Jeannette has made some SF Bay Area changes to piece and we've got the Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars, crabs, trees native to California
and grapes among other motifs.

There is also a lovely little needlebook that coordinates with the design.

The kit is available in either 32 or 36 count hand-dyed linen and includes all the threads (mostly silk), a 22 page colour booklet with all the stitch diagrams, needles, beads and the charms you need for the project.  About a month before the class we will send you the fabric and the main chart so that if you wish to baste in outlines for the sections or mount the fabric on scroll rods, you can do so before the class.

You should bring to class any magnification you need along with you as well as the usual class stitching supplies (scissors, extra needles, pen or pencil, note paper, highlighters, etc.). And of course, bring your fabric with you!

We will be holding the class at Pasta Pelican, a local Alameda restaurant on the estuary. Google Maps are below:
