Winter Greetings!

The last of our Winter trade shows is this weekend in Nashville. Debi and I go a day early to take a couple of classes and to enjoy meeting up with our shop-owner friends. We have our Needlework Maffia dinner set for Saturday night and I'm sure merriment will be the order of the evening. This is a cash 'n carry show so what we buy there comes home with us. We have a few things pre-ordered to pick up but most of the time we shop each vendor's room (it's in an Embassy Suites so their "booth" is their hotel room) to see what we want to bring back vs. order for later. This is always a balancing act for shops, especially those of us who fly. Baggage restrictions do limit what we bring back so we try to get a good selection right away and have more come in over the next several weeks.Plan to come visit us later next week when we've had a chance to unpack and price all our goodies!

CA is returning in 3 weeks to teach 3 of her wonderful counted-thread projects. Her Bellagio Inspired Pocket ($135) is Saturday morning, the Garden Steps ($185) is Saturday afternoon and the Mermaild Pocket Purse ($195) is all day Sunday. The Mermaid Pocket Purse is a pre-stitching piece but if you're not able to get it stitched in advance you can still sign up and you'll get to see other purses being finished in class and ask questions so you can do the finishing later. Temari Time

The second Sunday of each month we now feature"Temari Time". Sherry will be here for a 2-hour open workshop from 1:30-3:30 for $10. Bring your current Temari ball and have Sherry help you with it, or Sherry can help you with starting a new ball. This month's Temari Time is this coming Sunday, February 10. We sold out of our R&R Linen Grab Bags but still have a few large count grab bags - 7 & 10 count Klostern & Tula. They are also $5. In addition we have bagged up all our remaining JL Walsh threads and they are now available in Grab Bags for $5. You'll find details on our Sale page. As we do a bit of "weeding" in our inventory we'll add more sale items to our Blog and to the Sale page.

In the past couple of months we have received price increases from quite a number of our suppliers including Rainbow Gallery, Au Ver a Soie, Lakeside Linens and Zweigart. For most of these we have updated the online catalog but we're still catching up on the Zweigart increases - as there were a lot of them. So if we're out of something and have to reorder it there's a good chance the price will be different on a Zweigart fabric that the one posted. We keep them up-to-date in the shop since it's all recorded in our inventory database we use when you buy something, but it takes time to migrate those changes to the online catalog.

Lakeside Linens has always had different prices for the 28-36 count fabrics and another for the 40 count but there is now another tier for the double-dyed colors (like Amethyst) which take a lot more dyeing time. The online catalog and our store database reflect the new prices but if we have the fabric in stock at the old price we'll use that use that price for you. We also ordered some custom cuts of Vintage Autumn Gold for the new Carriage House Samplings Shores of Hawks Run Hollow. We'll be picking up the charts at Nashville this weekend and we'll add the items for the project to the online catalog when we get back. But if you'd like us to hold any parts of the project supplies for you, just contact the shop.

We ordered the overdyed floss from ThreadworX, it has arrived and is now available via our on-line catalog if you're a mail order customer or you're welcome to come check it out at the shop. ThreadworX is a new company, started by one of the former long-time dyers for Needle Necessities after NN closed its doors. They are doing very similiar threads and colors and for many of them, they are replacements for the NN colors no longer available. In the online catalog we have listed what color the new ThreadworX color is a substitute for in NN. ThreadworX has also kindly allowed us to use their thread photos so you can see the colors. We will continue to leave the NN pages up with photos for some time since the NN site is gone. While ThreadworX is dyeing a variety of threads we are at present, only picking up the floss. It comes in 20yd skeins and is sold for $3.85/skein.

Several new releases have arrived, just as we're heading off to bring back more. The new Heart's Content fob kits came Wednesday, which feature the Uncommon Scissors we've been carrying for several month. The new Sweetheart Tree kits came Friday which include 2 new biscornu designs.. We've also been getting in most of the new Designing Ladies 2007 Needle Caskets and still have a couple more to arrive.

We'll I think I might be caught up on the urgent stuff before I head off to Nashville. I'm never truly caught up - although occasionally for a few minutes I like to dream that I am. I never really appreciated how much paperwork is involved in running a small business before I opened the store and there are days when I think I'm swimming in it. So off to market to buy more fun goodies - and generate more paperwork for when I get back :-)
