Greetings!
Well the beginning of the year show "rush" is
over and I've just made hotel reservations for our January 2008 show in San
Diego. I usually do them anywhere from 6-10 months in advance of a show - it
mostly depends upon how big the show is and when the hotel blocks are released
for us to make reservations. So as one season of shows winds down the planning
for future ones goes into gear. There's never a dull moment around here!
I suspect most of you don't know how much
paperwork is involved in running a store like this. I certainly never quite
grasped that before I opened the store. I've destroyed a number of shredders
over the years so now we have a shredder bin and a monthly service that comes
and shreds it for us. Reminds of my days in hi-tech. I know they tout the
paperless office as the wave of the future but it's not made it to us yet.
Between catalogs, purchase orders, invoices, mail order papework, shipping
receipts, statements, etc. I swear we could swim in the stuff. Thank heaven for
Alameda having agressive recycling policies and for shredding services.

Speaking of "before I opened the store" - that
was 10 years ago. Yes, 10 years ago! The shop will be 10 on March 27th and we
just celebrated 4 years in our present location. My how times flies. We'll be
doing celebrations throughout 2008 and I'm hoping to plan an actual party for
later this spring. Stay tuned and I hope you'll come celebrate with us during
the year.
