Spring Greetings {{user('firstname')}}!
Tomorrow (March 27th) is our 10th Anniversary
here at the shop. I can't believe it's been that long now. I still remember
moving into our original space and spending a month unpacking boxes and setting
up the store with Ada, Chris and lots of helpers. Then 4 years ago we moved and
did that part again (spending 4 days doing the unpacking and setup that time).
I've been very blessed with fabulous staff, most especially Ada and Debi. Ada
was my shop manager during the years I still worked full-time in high-tech and
was only here on the weekends (and late nights). Debi has been here since 1999,
first as a staff member and then taking over as shop manager when Ada moved
back east. Anne, who owns Gloriana Threads worked for me for quite some time
before her own company captured her full attention. Let's see...there's been
(in no particular order) Ada, Chris, Katy, Anne, Barbara, Debi, Caroline,
Sharon, Joy, Laura G., Laura D., Linda, Phyllis, Rachele, Anastasia, Sherry,
Rebecca, Tamara, Cheryl, Mary, Susan, Margaret and Ali. The cast changes from
time-to-time but every one of them has played their part in us reaching our 10
year milestone.
A lot has changed over the 10 years. The
industry has grown and changed, designers have come and gone, there are a lot
more threads and fabrics on the market, and of course how everyone shops a bit
different now. About 40% of our business comes from mail order (to over 30
different countries), most of it through our on-line catalog. So for many of
you, we've never had the pleasure of meeting you in person and sharing a cup of
tea or even talking to you on the phone. While you may not have the fun of
visiting the shop in person we hope our little packages bring pleasure to your
stitching life. And we hope those of you that visit us in person enjoy our
little oasis from the rush of daily life. |
Classes
Mike Swan will be doing 2 Embroidery Clinics on
April 23 and May 17. It's a great opportunity for Mike to help you with your
specific project or get you started on a new one.
Sherry will be teaching Beginning,
Intermediate and Advanced Temari classes in April and May, as well as her
Temari Time clinics. If you've not done a Temari ball before the Beginning
class is the place to start as she'll teach you how to create the ball (it uses
Rice hulls) in addition to the basic wrapping. The Intermediate and Advanced
classes require that you have a wrapped ball to do your decorative wrapping in
class.
We are also planning to have June McKnight come
teach a Bargello class in the next couple of months and we'll let you know when
we've settled on a date with her.
Visit our
Classes page to sign up
for any of these classes. |

Whether you are a customer we see regularly in
the store, talk to on the phone or only visit via the on-line world, we very
much appreciate your business and look forward to another 10 years after this
(and perhaps even longer)!
I do plan to have a party before summer begins
so if you're in the SF Bay Area, stay tuned for a party date and hopefully you
can come party with us!
Happy Stitching

current cast of: Debi, Caroline, Mary, Ali, Cheryl, Sherry, Susan and
