Fall Greetings! Fall has definitely come to the Bay Area. It's the beginning of our warmer season. While most parts of the country get cooler in September and October, we get warmer. The fog doesn't always come in during those months, which acts as our natural air conditioning. Last week it was pretty hot but fortunately the fog has returned for several days so it's nice stitching weather once again. |

2008 Christmas Finishing DeadlinesWhile Christmas is still 3+ months away, the finishing deadlines for getting pillows, stockings, stand-up figures, ornaments, etc. done in time for Christmas is looming. Here are the 2008 deadlines:

September "Jam" SaleThis weekend is our annual Webster Street Jam Festival. It originally started as the Peanut Butter & Jam Festival but got shortened last year to just the Webster Street Jam. It's a fun event complete with lots of artists, food and music. To celebrate the street fair we're holding a 4 Day sale September 11-14th. The sale is also valid for our mail order customers placing orders during that time. Saturday and Sunday, during the Jam, parking is best found a few blocks away from the street, usually the school parking lot at Eighth & Santa Clara is open. The weather should be pretty good, not to hot and not too cold.
For mail order customers the discount will be taken when your order is charged since we won't know what the barcode dates are until we pull the order. Sale does not apply to special orders, items on hold, finishing, current trunkshows, consignment, limited editions or items already on sale. Books, magazines, lamps and stands are 10% off regardless of barcode date, unless otherwise marked down. Sale is limited to stock on hand and does not apply to items we need to special order or reorder. |

Debi and I are going to St. Louis this weekend for the Fall Needlework Market. This used to be held in Phoenix the end of August and has moved to a new location and a new time. While the Phoenix market was mostly needlepoint vendors, the show now has vendor attending for needlepoint, counted-thread, accessories, thread, fabric and a few yarn vendors as well. We'll be bringing back some new things with us and will be ordering more to come over the next 2-3 months. And even better, we get to meet up with our Needlework Maffia buddies!

We're really pleased to have a great selection of
Dale's canvases for the next few weeks during our DJ Designs Trunkshow. From
floral pillow canvases to purses and even foot stools, there is a huge range of
wonderful hand-painted designs. Remember, you do earn Rewards points on
trunkshow purchases as well. So come by and take a look at these great designs
through the end of September.
Dale will be at the shop Saturday September 27th from
noon to 4pm for a Designer Meet 'n Greet. Dale is a very talented designer and
a fun guy as well. We hope many of you will take the opportunity to come visit
that afternoon, check out his canvases and say hello.
June will be here Saturday October 4th for two
Bargello classes. The morning class will be from 10am - 12:30pm and is
essentially Bargello 101. You'll learn how to pick threads, colors and patterns
using June's Best Bargello Book. You will need to have your own copy of
June's book, which you can bring with you if you already own it, or you can
purchase a copy during the class. Bring your own threads or pick some during
class. We'll provide a piece of mounted blank canvas and you can have fun with
the rest. If your favorite colors are in a piece of fabric, a piece of
clothing, a flower or something else, bring that along and June will help you
with color selection. Class cost is $35.
The afternoon class will be from 1:30pm - 3:00 and
features the Holly Diamond design from June's Christmas Medallions book.
We'll provide all the stitching materials for this design. Class cost is $25.
You'll need a copy of June's Christmas Medallions book, available for
sale during class if you don't already own a copy.
We still have a few left of the
Just Nan limited edition kits Barnabee's Bride and the Gilded
Dragonfly. We have more of the silk threadpacks for the Gilded
