It's hard to believe 2008 is gone - although I think most of us were glad to see to end. I'm hoping 2009 is a less stressful year for everyone - and that I have more time to stitch!

End-of-year Sale Extended!

Our 2008 End-of-year sale was a big hit last week and I know many of you were not able to take advantage of it for various reasons. So...I'm extending the sale until Sunday January 11th.

All in-stock holiday items are 30% off (e.g. Christmas, Valentines, Halloween, etc)., all books and magazines are 10% off and everything else is 20% off (charts, thread, fabric, accessories, etc.). The sale is good only on in-stock items and excludes classes, finishing, items on Hold, Gift Cards and special orders. If the item is already on sale, you still get the additional savings during this sale. If you missed it last week be sure to join in the retail fun this week!

Food Bank Donations

We're continuing our Grab Bag for Food Donations offer - bring in at least one non-perishable food items for donation and get a grab bag for each item! We'll do this as long as we can keep making the grab bags - although you can certainly bring in donated food items regardless. We're donating to the Alameda Food Bank here in town. So if you've been thinking of donating and not gotten around to it, here's a great way to do so.

January Tuesday Evening Hours & Web Note

We will be open 11am - 8pm on Tuesday's this month. You can come shop or just enjoy the good lighting to do some stitching. We'll have a pot of tea on so come warm yourselves up and do a little evening stitching.

We have added a new Needle In A Haystack Google Calendar so you can check on our hours and events we have going on at the shop (and add it your own Google Calendar if you have one).

On a side note - we're having a minor problem with disk storage on our web server, which won't be resolved until the person who maintains it is back from vacation. So there are a few pages from the on-line catalog that are not complete - the last transfer to the website only got part way through. I know of 4 of the Caron Collection pages affected (Watercolours, Wildflowers, Impressions and Waterlilies) and there might be a few others. If you need to place an online order and the page is incomplete, just add what you want to the Special Instructions section. I'll post a note to the blog as soon as we get the problem resolved.

I hope you all had a great holiday season and celebrated the New Year in your favorite way. I stitched on New Year's Day after continuing to work on my sewing/craft room re-do. The room is painted, the shelves are all up and the long task of re-organizing has commenced. I must tell you, one of my favorite places to shop is The Container Store and my lovely husband gives me a gift card from there for Christmas every year (he's a really perceptive guy). So I spent the Sunday after Christmas at TCS and picked up more pieces for my room re-do. But a very funny thing happened while I was there. Two ladies were standing in the middle of the Christmas sale items (red/green boxes for holiday storage) when one smiled and said to the other "doesn't this place just make you happy!". It made me think of all the lovely colors and textures at my own shop which makes me happy - I love just looking at them all sometimes. I hope that you find visiting Needle In A Haystack as much a happy place as these ladies found TCS.
