Stitching Greetings!
I hope that you had a great July 4th
weekend - I certainly did as I took 4 days off in a row! Since we were closed
on the 4th and I'm not scheduled to work on Sundays, I rearranged the staff
schedule and was able to spend 4 days stitching, reading, baking, gardening and
having a great time hanging out with my spouse. He was missing me since I'd
been gone so much in June :-). Also, I'm trying to spend more time baking -
something I've not had much time to do in the past few years. I belong to a
group called Baker's Dozen, which is made up of professionals and serious
non-professionals and I'm trying to back into my "serious amateur" mode. When I
get more in gear that way you might see more goodies at the shop (of a
different kind). |
Thread A Needle Day!
Don't forget to join us July 25th for
Thread a Needle Day. The Bay Area EGA Chapter will be joining us
at the shop during the afternoon, stitching and showing people how to thread a
needle (there are quite a few ways you know). Stop by and join us for some
treats during the day and make a little celebration of it. Or have your own
celebration and show others how much fun it is to Thread a Needle! |

The Sheep Scissors holder from Lantern
Moon keeps flying out the door as more came in our UPS delivery today and
they are already gone! So we have another batch or two on order. Each one is
hand-made in Vietnam and they are so cute you want to hug them. They make great
gifts for yourself or a stitching friend (or even just someone who collects
scissors).
Also in the Lantern Moon shipment were 2
new tape Measurers (Flower & Leaf) and Strawberry fobs. You can order any
of these items below by visiting our
Blog or check them out
at the shop.
Come and check our the new lamps from
Holtkötter. We have both a floor model and table model in stock for you to
look at. To read more about these lamps visit our

Needleprint - Mary
Wigham
If you are a sampler devotee you may
already be following the SAL (Stitch-ALong) for Mary Wigham from
Needleprint. If not, let me introduce you to Mary. Jacqueline of
Needleprint has the rights to reproduce this sampler from the Ackworth School
that owns the original and the chart for Mary Wigham is available for
free on the Needleprint
website. It is requested that you make a donation to the musuem, which
helps them in the continued efforts to conserve samplers in their collection.
Mary Wigham will be available in 9 weekly downloads, 1-6 have been
posted so far.
I've printed the first 6 pieces and am
still trying to figure out the colors I want to use. I've seen quite a few
variants (just look on the Needleprint Blog) including some at
my friend Jeannine's shop in Portland that her customers have started. I'm
thinking of lighter colors on a darker fabric but I'm still undecided yet. Part
of the fun is figuring out what do this lovely sampler with. |
|
I'm finally starting to catch up on my
to-do list, but there never seems enough time in the day to do it all. If I
could only invent some kind of time stretcher - I'm sure some of you could use
it as well.
I am continuing to stitch on my lovely
Lakeside Linens 45 count Vintage Luna. Jean at the Attic has definitely
converted me to this count (and yes, I thought she was completely crazy when
she told me to try it). I'm doing a little blackwork pattern on it that I think
I'll turn into a scissors fob when I'm done with it.
Happy Stitching, Cathe ...and
