Late Summer Greetings
{{user("firstname")}},
Where has the summer gone? Last time I
checked it was still June. I think as I get older time moves at a very
different pace than I do. I'm sure if that's good or bad yet :-).
We have a new staff person who started
recently. Mary Frances Wogec is a wonderful stitcher who also worked at places
like Lacis and Poppy Fabrics in the past. We're very happy to have her join us
on Saturdays. And even more cool, her tiny knitting tablecloth is the feature
on the upcoming cover of Piecework Magazine! Mary Frances knits with 1 strand
of Soie d'Alger. Ok, so I thought I liked fine needlework but I think I've been
out "smalled"! If you're in the shop on Saturday be sure to welcome Mary
Frances to our stitching family. |
Stitch 'n Zip Trunkshow
 Eyeglass Case Roses |
 Cosmetic Case/Purse Teapots |
 Scissors Case Hearts |
 Half Spec Case Violets |
Be sure to stop by and visit our Stitch
'n Zip trunkshow from Alice Peterson. They are available in our
on-line
catalog so you can view the photos and/or order on-line if you're not able
to make it into the shop. The full kits come with the pre-finished silkscreen
design, threads, needle and instructions. Just stitch it up and if you want,
you can add some fabric to the inside when you're done to make an even nicer
finish. We also have blank pre-finished kits for the sizes that come that way
so you can create your own design. These are all 18 mesh on interlock canvas.
The thread in the kits is DMC floss and you don't even need to strip them down
- just stitch with all 6 strands intact.
If you purchase any of the Stitch 'n
Zip kits during the Trunkshow you will earn Double Stitching Has Its
Rewards points on your trunkshow purchases. These make great gifts for family
and friends and are quick to stitch up. |

I'm still finding a little time each week
to stitch on my Mary Wigham. I'm not as far as I'd like to be but somehow other
things seem to intrude - like my baking! This week it was chocolate time so I
made a chocolate ganache tart with the pecan nut crust. Leila can't have gluten
so I'm finding way to make deserts with other crusts so she can eat them too. I
think she's having fun with my experiments. When I bake or make pastry I never
make just one thing - I mean where's the fun in the making a mess in the
kitchen for one little desert :-). So his co-workers also get to sample my work
- he's afraid I'm spoiling them. But it's so much fun to get back into baking
after having not done for it a long time. Sometimes you just need to throw a
little flour or chocolate around to feel good! I haven't decided what the next
pastry will be yet but it probably involve the blueberries in the fridge...
