Happy Halloween!

I think Halloween is a very fun time of year. Of course it does occur in my favorite season - fall. Usually I make it back east some time in October but that didn't happen this year due to too many screwy things going on. But at least our weather has turned a bit more like fall. I was over in Half Moon Bay on Monday visiting a yarn vendor who also dyes silk ribbon and it was such a joy to see all the smiling pumpkins everywhere.

We do have a special event on our street tomorrow for the kids. It's a A Halloween carnival, pumpkin giveaway and costume contest are from noon to 4 p.m., held in the parking lot at the corner of Webster and Taylor. Trick or Treating will be along Webster Street during that time and most of the business participate. We expect to give out an amazing amount of candy tomorrow. Come by and enjoy the kids and their costumes. Or come dressed up yourself and get a surprise treat from us.

Society of Soie Surfine
...when only the finest will do!

We are expecting our 3rd shipment of Carmine Rose this weekend and a sample of our next color in the series (a green). If you have signed up recently you'll be getting your first color very soon. We expect color #2 (to be named shortly) to be ready in about 2-3 weeks. We're still waiting for fabric to get to the states so it can be dyed - but we do know it's in transit.

The response to our Society of Soie Surfine. has been absolutely amazing and I'm really glad we're able to make so many stitchers who love fine count stitching happy. Visit the Society News blog to keep up with general information on us and you can Follow Us on Twitter so as we get new shipments, release the next color, etc. you can be up-to-date!

You can sign-up for the Society through us by calling the shop or through the on-line catalog. Be sure to specify which count fabric you want as part of your Subscription.

I'm about 65% done with the background on my am continuing stitching on my lovely bird bag. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the circles in the design. I've tried a couple of things but they've not looked quite right. Plus, what you stitch on a design intended for a bag must stand up to the wear and tear of its use.
