Pre-Thanksgiving Greetings!
I had a wonderful weekend in Phoenix at
Jean's Sampler Symposium. There were wonderful projects, lots of great
stitchers to meet and friends to catch up with. We even had the opportunity to
hand-dye some fabric under the watchful eye of Pat from Lakeside Linens. Thanks
to Jean for a truly great weekend of stitching!
A last reminder about Jean's 12th Annual
Silent Auction for Breast Cancer Research coming up this Saturday (11/21).
If you visit the Attic's website there is
information on the event and how to bid on items, which can happen right up to
the last minute. The goal this year is $15,000 and we're hoping the goal is met
and exceeded! |

We have a number of older charts and kits
from The Heart's Content and we need to make room for all the new stuff
that will come from our two tradeshows in January and February 2010 (yes, the
new year is not far away). There is a sale page for these items and they are
30% off while supplies last. Current releases are not on sale. Visit our
Heart's
Content Sale page for the sale items and details. |
What's New &
Updates
With the holidays approaching we've picked
up a few "fun" things you might be interested in for gifts. We found some glass
laying tools that are really shawl pins. We asked the glass maker to modify
them so they have a more tapered end for our use. They are on-of-a-kind and
given the time to make these we won't get another shipment before the holidays.
The needles can be used for things like sewing up knitted garments, although
you would want to use them with care!
You'll find photos of the laying tools and
the new Kelmscott Designs items on our
Blog, where you can
also order them.
If you subscribe to The Gift of
Stitching there is an adorable Angel Cracker ornament from The
Victoria Sampler. We have a few of the Angel Cracker Tiny Pack
(TVS-TAP29 - $13.50). If you're not familiar with The Gift of Stitching it
is a web-based stitching magazine that's been around since 2006. It is
published monthly in PDF form and has some wonderful designs and articles. You
can subscribe either by visiting their
website or we also sell
subscriptions and full-year back issue CDs for them. Check them out - I think
you'll like what you see.

Sherri Jones of Patrick's Woods is
coming in March to teach for the Bay Area Sampler Guild and has kindly agreed
to teach a class for us as well. She'll be teaching at the shop on Sunday,
March 21st. I'm just finalizing the class details with her and should have
those ready to post before Thanksgiving. We are planning to do a project as
pre-stitching and spend her time here doing the finishing work. More details to
follow... |

Four of the five Society Member shops were
in Phoenix at Jean's last weekend and we got to see the final version of our
newest color - Olivine as well as samples of the remaining three colors (gold,
blue and brown) in Series 1. We expect to have the Olivine available by the
middle of December as it's in the process of being dyed. We're still waiting on
the fabric to arrive at the dyers and once that happens we'll have a better
idea of a release date for it. Visit the
Society News blog or
you can Follow Us on Twitter.
You can sign-up for the Society through us
by calling the shop or through the
on-line catalog.
Be sure to specify which count fabric you want as part of your Subscription. We
will be taking sign-ups for Series 1 until 30 days after the end of Series 1.
So if you decide later to subscribe you can do that and we'll send you
everything that's been released up to that point for Series 1.
Society Member shops are: Needle In A
Haystack, Acorns and Threads, Attic Needlework, Stitchville USA and
Traditional Stitches and any one of us can handle your subscription to
the Society of Soie Surfine. |

We will be open our regular hours next week
with the exception of Thursday, November 26. We will be Closed for Thanksgiving
Day. |

I did spend some time stitching on my Zecca
bird bag while I was in Phoenix. It's a great travel project even though it is
kind of large. I keep it rolled up while I stitch so it doesn't get too hard to
handle. I'll try to take a photo this weekend of my progress and put it on my
personal blog for those of you who are interested in it. I do need to go
through my lovely projects from Jean's weekend event and start a couple of them
as well. One can never have too many projects to work on :-).
