If you're a local customer you might be
interested in the Alameda Family Services Holiday Home
Tour which takes place Saturday December 12th. This is a fund
raiser for the non-profit and you get to see some lovely homes decorated for
the holidays. Tickets are available at the shop and are $30 (cash or check only
since the funds go directly to Alameda Family Services). We also have a
lovely live tree in the shop decorated by them as part of our West Alameda
Business Association's efforts to help make our non-profits more
visible.
I mentioned in a previous newsletter that
we will be closed for a long weekend over the Christmas Holiday. We'll be open
on December 24th from 11-2 and then closed until Tuesday December 29th. One of
the staff has offered to take appointments for shopping on Saturday December
26th and Sunday December 27th. So if you're in town for only those days or have
relatives visiting you can make an appointment to come to the shop. Please let
us know before we close on the 24th so we make the arrangements.
And on a really fun note - as a baker I'm a
big fan of the Food Network's Ace of Cakes. An episode
that aired last night featured a stocking cake made for a woman who had
stitched Shepherd's Bush stockings for all the members of her family. If
you didn't catch the episode (Merry Cakemas) it will air again Dec. 6, 8
& 9th. Check the
Food
Network website for times.
