| Spring
greetings! I know many of your are still facing winter weather or for those down under, it's starting to cool off for autumn. Here in the SF Bay Area spring has well and truly arrived. It's supposed to be in the mid-70's this weekend as was in the mid-80's yesterday in the wine country. Our last rain storm was a week ago and that might be it for quite some time. Typically we don't get rain from mid-April to mid-November, or as I like to call it "the brown season". But we'll revel in the spring days, with flowers blooming and trees leafing out. If you've got a trip planned to our area I think you'll enjoy the weather a great deal - it's always one of the perks of living here! ![]() I don't know about your busy life,
but mine always seems to have something to do with paperwork. I finally
got the taxes off to the accountant but I feel like I'm being
buried
alive with the stuff. So to combat that, I've been stitching some very
small items over 1 on 40 count Graziano linen.
Here's a sample of what I've been doing. If you visit my The
Floss Queen blog you'll see photos of all of the necklaces and if
you visit
the Society
of
Soie
Surfine blog you'll see all of the JBW
Designs pieces I've done. It's really
all Jean Lea's fault. If she hadn't convinced me to work on 45
count linen I wouldn't have gotten hooked on 40 count over one either!
Each of these is stitched with one strand of Soie Surfine and I made
the
necklaces (I'm kind of a crafty person and now the proud owner of 3
soldering irons). The JBW pieces will also get the glass/solder
treatment sometime
in the new few weeks. |

Have you ever wanted to see me get locked
up? Some of my
staff have on occasion - OK, so maybe my husband has as well. I'm
participating in a fund raiser for Muscular Dystrophy and will be
arrested on
Wednesday April 7th by an Alameda Police officer. For someone who's a
mystery buff, this is going to be great fun. I've got a donation page
set
up through MDA and your donations will help me make bail. Visit my MDA
LockUp page and if you can make a small donation, everyone wins! If
you want to see
me get taken away in a police car, come by the shop around 11:15am on
April 7th. Trust me, there will be photos
taken! |

![]() My
poor Zecca bird is feeling lonesome at the moment as my stitching time
has been taken up with all my little pieces.
I'm hoping to get back to him in the next couple of weeks so I can
finish off the front. But at the moment I'm working on another JBW
Designs - Queen Bee,
which I'm stitching with Inca Gold and Olivine from
our
Society of
Soie Surfine Series #1.
More of the 40 count over 1 work I've grown to love. This will be a bit
bigger at 2.5" square so I'd better keep the Zecca bird away
from it or the bee could be history!Happy Stitching, Cathe Cathe's Personal Blog ...and Debi, Leila, Jennifer, Ali, Mary, Mary Frances, Caroline, Susan and Margaret |
